Suspected striking employees torch ZEO Ccpur

IMPHAL, Feb 8: Some unidentified persons suspected to be the volunteers JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO burned down the office of the Serva Siksha Abhiyan SSA attested to the ZEO Churachandpur, Hill Town under Churachandpur district police this evening around 4.45pm.

The arson which was suspected to be caused by the unidentified persons at the office complex of the ZEO Churachandpur have caused serious damages to many furniture, official documents, one zerox machine, note books, books and resource materials inside the room of the SSA.

According to the local source, the incident occurred after office hours. People nearby witnessed heavy smoke come out from the office premise yesterday evening around 4.45pm.

Later, the public made serious efforts to put off the fire before the fire brigade arrived at the spot.

In this connection Churachandpur police has registered a case but the motive behind the arson is yet to established.

However, officials suspect about involvement of volunteers of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Meanwhile the ongoing indefinite cease work strike of the JAC AMGEO and AMTUC, has entered its 24th day. The strikers claimed in a statement that all government offices both in the valley and hill districts remained paralyzed, informed a statement of the JAC.

Reacting to a statement made by spokesperson N Biren, in a local daily claiming the demand of the JAC was being negotiated, the JAC claimed that government offices remained paralysed for almost a month due to the strike.

It clarified that the JAC had made its stand clear to the government that they are not out to cause inconveniences to the people by continuing their agitations for a long time or hamper developmental and others forms of works. Their only appeal is for payment of their due DA/DR, arrears, along with implementation of the 6th pay commission salary in toto.

The JAC also warned the government to act soon before they decide to intensify the current agitation.
