Lamka, February 05 2010: With the United Zou Organisation, the apex body of the Zou tribes vigorously pursuing its educational policy of amalgamating neglected and ill-equipped institutions located within their villages into one, the border village of Behiang is likely to reap the first benefit beginning this session.

At least three institutions, two Church sponsored and one government schools will soon amalgamate into one if the tribe’s education policy materialises as planned with the UZO sponsoring one graduate teacher each for Science and Mathematics.

Decision in this regard, according to inside sources was adopted in December last with representatives from more than a dozen villages located within Behiang area endorsing the move.

“A special management committee comprising of five members was again appointed on January 5 to make the reform policy, a reality,” said the source.

“God willing, with the drafted reforms we anticipate to bridge to an extent the knowledge gap between these interior and backward regions with the townships.

Which will eventually benefit the rural masses in particular and the tribe as a whole in general,” it added.

It is worth mentioning here that the UZO has organized several seminars before embarking on their drafted policy at many locations including the interior villages.

Other targeted areas where it plans to amalgamate multiple schools so as to augment its facilities and faculties are Muallum, Tuining, Sajik Tampak and Saiboh.
