An open letter to all the Zou Pastors in India and abroad

3 February 2010 No Comment

Dear Pastors in Zou Community,

Greetings in the name of the only Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, our Lord!

With much respect, I would love to share some of my burden for our community and the way we serve God. Since my childhood days (or way before that time), church leaders among the Zou community have not taught biblical doctrines to their congregations. (Yes, pastors do preach that Christ died for sinners, but after people trust the Lord they are neglected. They are not usually directed to sound doctrine. As a result, they have lost their way after sometime. Don’t you think this is the fault of Pastors and church leaders? Let us know that pastors’ duties are much more than just evangelizing and sitting in church offices. Churches exist to disciple believers, which we hardly practice). I can say this because I was brought up in our community, and I have been to many gospel conferences and crusades; but it was just a time of enjoyment and entertainment with no spiritual growth. And with the passing of time, the consequences of this can be seen in the birth of different liberal denominations within our community. Though our people (Zou Tribe) have celebrated 50 years of Christianity, there are no remarkable changes in the churches and the community. It is the same old thing that has been going on and is still going on now… Isn’t it time for us to grow spiritually? What are church leaders doing today?

Though we have completed 50 years of Christianity, it is sad that no Zou pastor boldly stands for the truth and defends biblical doctrines. We are swept by every wave that comes along our way. Are we ignorant about biblical doctrines? Or are we denying God’s Word and following man’s doctrines? It looks like every pastor/bishop among the Zou people is running after fame and popularity without having a single concern for biblical truths which will impact future generations. Don’t you think that the Zou churches are like a prostitute running after money and enjoyment without having concern for her dignity? It’s sad!!! May I tell you that no matter what kind of organizations we affiliate ourselves with, or what church leaders try to achieve with their own abilities and talents, there will be no spiritual growth unless we return to the Lord and humble ourselves before Him. And if there is no spiritual growth, there will be no development in our community no matter what we do. It is not big organizations or high positions that will revive our people; it is only God’s Word that will bring spiritual revival which will transform lives dynamically. Oh! Zou Church leaders remember what the Psalmist says, Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (Psalm 2: 11-12)

Let us put our trust in the Lord, not big organizations and high positions. Stop trusting NAMES OF CHURCHES: SYNOD, LUTHERAN, CATHOLIC, BIBLE CHURH, WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES, and ANY OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRY. To trust the Lord is enough!! That’s all we need!! Let us learn to stand on our feet and not depend on others!! (I am not against the names of churches, but I am concerned about our mentality and the doctrine that we teach in churches.)

The saddest thing for me is to know that Lutherans and Presbyterians will be part of the World Council of Churches which is a liberal and filthy organization. This organization is not in accord with biblical doctrines at all. Don’t you all know that? If you do know, why are you misleading innocent people/congregations in the wrong way where they will not be growing spiritually? Are you taking advantage of their ignorance? Please stop playing with God’s people!! Don’t use God’s people to do business for your personal gain!! They are too innocent to be cheated. You know yourself that you will be facing God one day and report your deeds. At least think about that and please stop leading our ignorant Zou people in the wrong way. My tears for our worldly mentality which results in accepting liberal denominations are not yet dry, and now the acceptance of the WCC brings me to mourn much more. Oh! How I wish that Zou Pastors will put away their pride and selfish ambitions and lead the people in the right way!! (You may say that I have no business to talk regarding WCC, but I am truly burdened by the decisions of the Zou church leaders for I care about our people’s spiritual life).

Well, dear pastors, I am just pouring my heart’s burden. Please forgive me if I go too far. But I cannot keep quiet anymore seeing the wickedness going on in our community and churches. Know that I am praying for you all and our people. I believe God will, one day, revive His people, but you may not be remembered if you do not repent of your wicked deeds. Let us return to the Bible, and guide our people according to biblical doctrines.

PS – If anyone wants to say something, feel free to write back to me, and if possible please translate and circulate this letter to all church leaders in spite of their denomination.

This verse is what I want all church leaders to meditate on. We badly need to do so.

Some trust in Chariots and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20: 7)

With a burdened heart,

Lalpi Zou
