KSO submits memorandum & Manipur News

IMPHAL, Dec 24: Kuki Students’ Organisation Chandel district submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding fresh recruitment process in all the vacant 252 posts of primary teachers of Chandel district. Maintaining that every applicant must face the written exam and viva-voce, KSO Chandel said that it will not entertain any recruitment on the basis of the so-called panel list, adhoc teachers and long suffered.

KSO also demanded that non-locals (applicants from outside Chandel district) should not be included in the recruitment and a competent MSC officer be appointed to oversee the DPC in place of the present Chandel Autonomous District Council Chief Executive Officer S Wurngam Anal Wurngam.

The students’ body also demanded for the removal of S Wurngam Anal. KSO said that the antecedents of the CEO had been investigated by the Vigilance Department for fake appointment. A chargesheet had also been framed against him and tabled in the State Assembly in March 2008.

The officer was however neither put on suspension nor terminated from service regardless of ample proof, KSO added.

KNF greets

IMPHAL, Dec 24: The proscribed Kuki National Front (KNF) extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Christmas. The outfit also urged all the organisations to maintain peace during Christmas so that people can celebrate the festival in peace. The Front also wished a new dawn of peace and prosperity be upon the people with the coming of a new year.

KNF clarifies

The proscribed Kuki National Front (KNF) clarified that the outfit was not involved in the abduction of ATSAM General Secy adding that there is no such person in the name of Thangboi working in the Finance Department of the Front as accused by Malem-nganba Meitei of KCP, published in the Sangai Express (December 21 edition). KNF is never involved in such anti-social activities and instead striving to root out such elements from the society, said a press release issued by Information and Publicity Secretary LH Stephen.

JAC agitation

Supporting the ongoing ceasework strike of JAC (AMTUC &AMGEO) demanding implementation of 6th Pay Commission, Joint Committee of Medical Department Employees Assn, Family Welfare Department Employees Assn and Manipur Health Service Officer’s Assn in a meeting convened on Dec 18 decided to shut OPDs of all medical institutions/hospitals for three days from Dec 27 excluding institutions under Moirang AC. The institutions under the AC will be exempted in connection with the ensuing by-election scheduled on Dec 27. The Committee however resolved to relax the closure for three days from Dec 30 as an alternative arrange-ment. It also decided to resume closure from January 2 in case Govt do not respond positively. If the Govt further remains defiant, agitation of clearance of all the in-patients and no new admission to the hospital wards will be started from January 5. Casualty and emergency services will be closed from January 8.

Guv, CM, others extend best wishes on X’ Mas

IMPHAL, Dec 24: Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur and specially the Christian brethren on the auspicious and joyous occasion of Christmas , the birthday of Jesus Christ which is being celebrated the world over tomorrow.

In his message to the people, the Governor said that Lord Jesus came to this world to build a new world order based on peace, justice and equality to mankind.

His message of love, mercy, forgiveness, compassion, benevolence and sacrifice, has become more important at the present situation when the atmosphere of society is marred by bickering, bitterness and social tension. The best way to celebrate the Christmas is to strive for building a harmonious society and work for strengthening the bonds of amity, the Governor said, wishing may humanity accept the essence of Chris- tmas’ message of peace.

Extending his greetings, IGAR(South) Maj Gen AK Chaudhury conveyed his earnest message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding on the joyous occasion.
